Born: 13th October 1925
prime minister from 1979 - 1990
background: Born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, she studied chemistry at Somerville College, Oxford before becoming a barrister.
Became the local mp for Finchley during 1959 general election.
Edward Heath appointed Thatcher Secretary as the State for Education and Science in his 1970 government.
1975 became Leader of the Conservative Party, the first woman to head a major UK political party.
Following the 1979 general election she became Britain's first female Prime Minister.
She took a hard line against trade unions, and her tough rhetoric in opposition to the Soviet Union earned her the nickname of the "Iron Lady".
was re-elected for a third term in 1987, but her poll tax was widely unpopular and her views on the European Community were not favoured by rest of the Cabinet.
has a life peerage as Baroness Thatcher, which means that she is allowed to sit in the house of Lords.

Harold Wilson
1964-1970
I understand how Babara castle was put into the role of trying to keep the trade unions under control. I also understand how edward Heath beat Harold Wilson in the 1970 general election and becaime prime minister. I understand how Wilson used the method of putting James Callaghan and George brown against eachother to see who was strong enough to sort out the economy. Even though this led tothe Labour Party splitting it does reveal how he wasnt affraid to take risks even in his cabinet.
I do mostly understand the aspects which were taken place during his time as a Pm and premiership.
I am not to sure on the economy in how the value of the pound is constantly varied. I am also slightly unsure about how wilson tried to make things better and make the economy better like devaluating the pound and changing its values.
